It may be the odd duck on the site, but in the interest of intellectual honesty we thought we should include an "offramp" to indexing.

The rest of the site contains readings primarily aimed at those interested in active investment management. However, for many people, trying to beat the market doesn't make any sense - after all, not everyone can beat the market by definition. Instead, at least in the public stock market, many are better off owning a set of very low cost "index funds" that track the market return. The godfather of this approach is John Bogle who founded Vanguard. His book "The Little Book of Common Sense Investing" explains this concept and approach.
